Gwyneth Tripp

Gwyneth Tripp works at the intersection of people, process, and practice at Blue Shield of California Foundation. She engages with staff across the organization to identify needs and possibilities and implement creative, durable changes that improve the way in which we do our work. Always on the hunt for new practices that could enhance the Foundation's impact and endurance, Ms. Tripp helps to cultivate an environment of inquiry, curiosity, and design. Since joining the Foundation in 2004, she has played an essential role in core operations, grants management, and office culture.

Ms. Tripp grew up in Berkeley, California, where her connection to social justice — and later, health — began. While interning at the Immune Enhancement Project in high school, she received first-hand experience about both the challenges and joys of providing holistic care to vulnerable populations. Ms. Tripp carried this insight with her throughout her time at a variety of nonprofit organizations before finding a home for her heart at Blue Shield of California Foundation. As a visual artist in drawing, painting, and photography outside of the office, Ms. Tripp weaves her creative nature and systems-savvy into her work, including frequent contributions in the form of “tablescapes” in the Foundation's conference room as well as encouraging staff to put their thoughts, ideas, and feelings into words on our writeable wall... which is affectionately named Cosmo.

Ms. Tripp received her bachelor of arts in history from the University of California, Berkeley and holds a certificate in painting, drawing, and photography from the San Francisco Studio School. Her current artwork is focused on large-scale abstract drawings and oil paintings filled with color and life.

When left to her own devices, you can find Ms. Tripp reading about historical markers, experimenting with her garden, elbows-deep in cooking, chasing puppies, or absorbed in a sci-fi television series. Her husband and partner of 20 years sometimes joins in these pursuits, but encourages her to wander and play as whimsy dictates and creativity demands.
