Developing and training effective leaders is a core element of the Foundation’s overall grantmaking strategy.
By strengthening the leadership of domestic violence organizations and safety net clinics, we are investing in the future of California — a future in which everyone can live free from violence and access quality care. The individuals who lead us to there must have the skills and knowledge to make that vision possible.
This is especially important for the DV field, as leaders begin to retire. Our programs are preparing a new set of individuals to step-up and fill the shoes of some of the movement’s very first champions. Funding has already produced significant results — not only for individuals, but for the DV field as a whole. Thanks to the Foundation’s early investments in leadership, the capacity of DV orgs has shifted and expanded across the state.
