Christine Maulhardt Vaughan
Director of Communications and Public Affairs
Christine Maulhardt Vaughan focuses on external relations in her role as director of communications and public affairs. She is responsible for leading the Foundation’s strategies to enhance visibility, build relationships and promote engagement with the Foundation’s partners and the communities we work in. Christine also manages the Foundation’s portfolio of media and journalism grants.
Christine joined the Foundation in 2010 and brought a blend of policy, research, and advocacy experience to her role. Prior to joining the Foundation, she was a research associate at Harder + Company Community Research, managing and evaluating health and social services programs for government and philanthropy clients. Prior to Harder, she directed a statewide obesity prevention initiative at the California Medical Association Foundation, working with physicians and other health professionals to decrease obesity and chronic disease rates among Californians.
Christine earned her Master of Public Administration degree at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She also spent a year as an AmeriCorps volunteer in an underserved elementary school after receiving her bachelor of arts in communication from the University of Washington. Christine has deep roots in California and in her free time can be found on the tennis courts of San Francisco, the hiking trails of the Desolation Wilderness, or the fields of her family’s strawberry farm on the Oxnard Plain.
