Senior Evaluation and Data Strategy Officer
Fontane Lo (she/her) serves as a senior program officer in evaluation and data strategy at Blue Shield of California Foundation. She brings more than a decade of social impact experience supporting research and learning for community-based organizations, foundations, and public agencies in California and across the country. Fontane believes in the power of collaboration and of community voice — core tenets that inform her work at the Foundation.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Fontane was the senior impact assessment and learning officer at The James Irvine Foundation, where she supported learning and evaluation across the organization and oversaw research grants such as the AAPI California Workers Study. Her perspectives as an evaluator were shaped by her tenure at Harder+Company Community Research, a California-based consulting firm. Her work there focused on the use of data to inform strategic learning, particularly systems and policy change efforts. Her areas of interest include health, economic security, housing, and early education.
Fontane holds a Master of Public Policy from the Goldman School of Public Policy at University of California, Berkeley, with undergraduate degrees from the same institution in economics and psychology. She lives in the East Bay with her husband and two young boys, and looks for regular opportunities to soak up the sun and enjoy good food with friends.
