Rick Bond is grants administrator for Blue Shield of California Foundation. In this role, he facilitates the Foundation’s grantmaking operations throughout all stages of the process. Rick is particularly attuned to identifying and implementing workflow improvements that ensure our grants processes are clear, accessible, and efficient.
Rick brings over 14 years of grants administration and program experience to the Foundation. As a former program officer for The San Francisco Department of Children, Youth & Their Families, a grants administrator for San Francisco State’s Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, and most recently as a research process manager for the Stanford University Medical School where he coordinated the pre-award grant proposal process for the Departments of Genetics and Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine. Having seen grantmaking from many different vantage points, direct service to development to funder (both private and government), has given him a unique diversity of knowledge of the field and ideas he is excited to share with the foundation and our grantees.
In his spare time, he realizes that - as a single father - he has none. However, if he did, he’d be writing songs, seeing shows, and running.
