With $4.9 Million in Q4 Grants, Blue Shield of California Foundation Reaches Over $31 Million in Annual Giving
Funds throughout 2014 have been awarded to organizations working to end domestic violence and ensure access to healthcare for California’s underserved
San Francisco, CA (Dec 15, 2014) — Today, Blue Shield of California Foundation announced $4.9 million in fourth-quarter grantmaking, bringing total 2014 giving to $31.8 million. This quarter’s awards include funding to integrate primary and specialty care for low-income patients through the use of eConsult systems. By facilitating greater and more efficient collaboration across providers, this approach is improving access to care and information throughout the safety net.
“We are incredibly proud to end the year with continued support for organizations that make our state safer and healthier,” said Peter Long, PhD, president and CEO of Blue Shield of California Foundation. “From projects that coach boys to develop healthy relationship habits to new coverage solutions for the remaining uninsured, these grants are strategic investments in a future where everyone has access to affordable healthcare and can live free from domestic violence.”
In addition, fourth-quarter grants will help launch the Movement & Mobilization Institute, a project that aims to explore the intersection of violence against women with other sectors and social justice movements, and identify new opportunities for collaboration. This funding is complemented by a number of grants to improve culturally responsive services for survivors across diverse backgrounds.
