Blue Shield of California Foundation Appoints New Trustee
Adriane Lamar Snider brings leadership and passion for serving communities facing the greatest challenges
SAN FRANCISCO (July 14, 2020) — Adriane Lamar Snider, a non-profit executive with two decades of experience leading domestic violence programs in California, was appointed to serve on the Blue Shield of California Foundation Board of Trustees, the Board announced today. As part of the nine-person board, she will help to ensure that the Foundation continues to fulfill its mission and vision.
“Adriane brings an important perspective to the Board as she has demonstrated a passion for serving communities, especially survivors of domestic violence, as well as an ability to drive organizational focus and build on-the-ground capacity,” said Evelyn Dilsaver, chair of Blue Shield of California Foundation’s Board of Trustees. “Her leadership will help advance the Foundation’s mission to build lasting and equitable solutions that make California the healthiest state and end domestic violence.”
Lamar Snider, who served on the board of the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence for eight years, has held leadership roles in domestic violence programs since 2000, including as chief operating officer of the Jenesse Center in Los Angeles for 14 years and most recently as executive director of the Riverside Area Rape Crisis Center, where she refocused the organization to expand capacity in communities with significant needs and placed new emphasis on culturally sensitive services.
An advocate for Black women’s health, she is dedicated to providing vital health and social service resources and information to women in communities impacted by inequities. She has worked to advance social justice and economic empowerment by working with individuals and families to enhance family stability.
“Adriane brings practical experience addressing the needs of survivors of domestic violence,” said Debbie I. Chang, MPH, president and chief executive officer of the Foundation. “She is uniquely grounded to provide us insight to inform and expand our domestic violence prevention agenda.”
Since 2002, Blue Shield of California Foundation has awarded more than $500 million in grants to support organizations and initiatives throughout the state, with more than $100 million to support domestic violence programs including prevention efforts starting in 2018.
