Further Forward

As we look at our world and all of its complex challenges, it’s clear that we need not only more funding and support for what matters, we also need different solutions and approaches. Thankfully, here in California, action and collaboration are in abundant supply. We do not fear differences, we embrace them; we do not fear changes, we lead them.

That’s why today we are launching a new strategic plan to help make California the healthiest state in the country, and the one with the lowest rates of domestic violence. With this new strategy, the Foundation is endeavoring from a place of strength and accomplishment to do what’s needed to move our golden state further forward.

We recognize that when the environment around us changes, we must change too. Building upon past work and all that has been achieved, we’re forging ahead with fresh ideas and redoubled determination.

I invite you to explore the new strategy by:

  • Watching this video to hear from our staff about why this work is so important;
  • Exploring our re-designed website; and
  • Encouraging your friends and colleagues to sign up for our newsletter about future funding opportunities and updates about what's going on in California.

Every day I look up at a campaign poster of Nelson Mandela that hangs on the wall in my office, and I am inspired by his ability to change the course of history. He famously said, “It only seems impossible until it’s done.” While I know that we are not nearly finished, I’m confident that together we can reshape the future.

I hope you’ll join us on the journey,
Peter
