JSI Report: Widening the Lens — The Bi-directional Pathways between Domestic Violence and Social Factors
Over 12 million people in the United States experience physical violence, rape, or stalking at the hand of an intimate partner every year. Domestic violence leads to multiple negative outcomes for survivors that extend beyond the immediate physical impacts to include long-term physical and behavioral health conditions as well as adverse social outcomes. This report provides a synthesis of the research underlying these relationships, a discussion of this web’s implications, and a series of recommendations for decision makers, policy developers, and organizational leaders working to prevent domestic violence in their communities.
